Objectives

  • To understand the role of language in the conflict in Sri Lanka focusing on the language rights of minority language speakers and how it affected national integration.
  • To examine the role played by language in the well-being of the citizens of the multilingual society of Sri Lanka.
  • To analyze political, cultural, and institutional factors affecting the implementation of language policy.
  • To disseminate knowledge among the policy community addressing the issue of how to design and implement language policy more effectively and plausibly.
  • To document and publish research on the effect of successful implementation of language policy.
