Glorious MDP Night 2017

MDP Night, an annual gathering for the students and lecturers of Master of Development Practice was held on 08 April, 2017 at Royal Garden Mall, Kandy with the participation of students from all batches.
The lineup of the night included speeches from the MDP office, Alumni, and representatives from fifth and sixth batches. After lighting the oil lamp, the event officially commenced with the address by MDP Coordinator Dr. Wasantha Athukorala. He shared about the history of MDP program and the significant development throughout the years. Representing first batch, Ms. Samantha Lindsay recollected the memorable days as a MDP student and the shift of her view on development through her studies. Mr. Sisira Fernando, from fifth batch, shared how the multi-disciplinary studies are being embraced by the students from different disciplines. He said the course has been enjoyable because of the diverse group of students.  Finally, Mr. Shamila Rathnasooriya representing sixth batch shared his experience, and their expectations to applying the learnings for the development of the country.
MDP night had entertainment filled with songs, dancing items and music. The students of the fifth batch took the audience through their MDP journey from 2015 to-date through a photo story presentation. A video documentary of their EIA field trip to Uma Oya Multi-Purpose Development Project (video produced by Shamila Rathnasooriya) was shared with the audience.
